Personal data and permission
The General Data Protection Regulation (EU) applies from May 25. 2018. Because of the European regulation we need your permission to keep you informed of our program. If you register with your email address for our newsletter, you automatically give us permission to send you updates and information. In addition to our newsletter, we can also send you emails about specific projects we develop.

If you register as a participant to join our events and projects, we will request you to fill in a questionnaire and share a number of personal details, such as age, gender and place of birth. In addition, we will also ask you about your personal interests. We need this information to create suiting matches in the projects where we connect people. We will store and use this information for a maximum one year after the event. You will receive information prior to the event. We will not exchange contact information and details of our participants with other participants. After the event, the organisation is also not allowed to share personal information of participants with other participants. Afterwards, we will keep all participants informed about other projects and the next edition of the project or event.

Exchange of information
We share data with MailChimp so we can send you our newsletters. Sharing information is based on an agreement. We ensure that our participants’ personal information is not shared with other parties. With the data we collect, we do create statistical overviews for funds and sponsors to make our impact visible. The statistical data is separated from personal data and the data is therefore anonymous.

Security
We Are Leiden is obliged to take appropriate technical and organisational measures to prevent the loss of personal data or unlawful processing. We ensure an encrypted connection and work with reliable partners.

Retention period
We Are Leiden does not store your personal data longer than necessary. If you join one of our events or projects, we will store the data for a maximum period of 1 year. This way we are able to inform our participants about the upcoming edition of the event in the following year. If participants decide not to register for the following event, we automatically retrieve their data from our contact list. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter. When you unsubscribe, your email address will also be removed from our database.

You have the right know what kind of personal data we have of you in our database and you can always request that this your data is retrieved from our database and deleted. If you want more information or ask us to delete your personal data, please contact us.
